]]>I have been using Go-Pro cameras for a while now for video work but have recently been experimenting with the still function on the camera. The Go-Pro Facebook page has some incredible still images that people have been creating. This inspired me and I started experimenting. Its amazing the results that a tiny camera can produce.
This shot was taken on a Bluebird day in Wyoming.

]]>It has always been a dream for me to shoot X-Games and this year it came true. I was fortunate to pick up photo assignments from American Snowmobiler Magazine, FLY Racing, Yamaha and the Moore Brothers. My buddy Tyler Lambert came down to hang out and help me shoot. It was awesome to have some help as it allowed me to shoot with a strobe at times.
This shot was taken on the first day in Snowmobile Freestyle practice.

American Snowmobiler Powder Evaluation

]]>Every year for American Snowmobiler Magazine we take out the top mountain snowmobile from each manufacturer and test them against each other. We had great snow for the whole test but the weather wasnt too good for pictures aside from the ten minutes that cleared when this picture was taken. We got really lucky and shot this image for a two page spread for the magazine. This article will run in the March 2011 issue of American Snowmobiler.

]]>BullyDog commissioned me to photograph one of their show trucks before they dismantled it and turned it into a race truck. The problem was that it was the middle of winter and the there was snow and overcast days. We found a section of bare asphalt and I shot the truck and took the background out in photoshop. The trade magazine Performance Business used the photo on the cover this month. Covers are a great honor and I am excited to add another one to my resume.

Western Powersports Catalog

]]>At the end of last season I submitted some images to Western Powersports for their 2010 street catalog. They ended up using an image of the World Superbike racers coming down the Attitudes at Miller on the back cover. This catalog is widely distributed to powersports dealers across the country so I am honored to have one of my photographs in there.

Nate Zollinger Re-Entry

]]>I am almost always try to light the subject with the sun onthe front or side, but yesterday on a ride with the Zollinger Brothers in Utah we found a nice wind-lip that back lit the rider as he turned on the top of it. So I decided to trysome backlit shots. It felt really strange shooting straight into the sun andon a few frames the camera’s autofocus system struggled to focus. After a fewfailed attempts using semi-auto settings I ended up manually focusing on thelip and exposed on the blue sky. The shot came out pretty good and I did someediting to produce this dramatic image.

]]>MotorFist commission me to shoot some photographs of the Troy and Chad from Lincoln County Customs wearing their gear. We watched the weather for about a week, it was set to snow for several days with Thursday forecasted for sun. We scheduled the ride with the LCC guys and Brett Rasmussen. With lots of fresh snow, good weather and great riders this day had all the ingredients for one of those once a season epic rides. And epic it was. The snow was incredibly deep as this shot of Chad Jorgensen clearly shows.

]]>Immediately following the ISOC Snocross in Salt Lake City I headed out to Daniel Summit to ride and photograph the 2011 snowmobiles from one of the manufacturers. Although the snow wasnt the best the weather was incredible with bright blue skies. I shot images of AmSnow editor Mark Savage riding that may be used in the March issue of American Snowmobiler M agazine.

]]>We recently were in Alpine Wyoming testing and photographing the 2010 snowmobiles for American Snowmobiler Magazine. Chad Jorgensen from Lincoln County Customs was one of the riders with us on the shoot. Chad is a Pro AMA Motocross rider and has amazing style on a snowmobile. On this small jump he tilted the snowmobile in the air just enough toward the camera to give a great view of the machine. By shooting low enough with a wide angle lense we were able to make Chad and the snowmobile go above the horizon making for a much more dramatic image.

]]>Bully Dog Technologies manufactures electronic performance products for cars and trucks. They called us to photograph some of their products. We set-up a small studio at their facility with strobes to light the products. Bully Dog wanted photographs of how the product would look in the vehicle but on a white background, so we used a magic arm and wire to hang the product with carefully placed putty to balance the part.

]]>I have never been one for taking pictures of nature. But yesterday on the way snowmobiling the sunrise was so amazing that I pulled over and snapped a few of frames. It struck me how beautiful Gods creation is and how I live in a very cool part of the world.

Yamaha Nytro XTX

]]>In December I went to the Yamaha snowombiles photoshoot to assist photographer Kort Duce. The shoot was going really well until a fire wiped out the lodge where we were staying. A weeks worth of images on hard drives went up in flames along with all Korts equipment. After the fire I was one of the only ones left with any camera equipment so I ended up shooting as much as possible and more than originally planned. Moral was really low after the fire and everyone was totally gutted about the losses. Due to all the craziness and lack of computers we didn't upload our own images but just handed off memory cards when they were full. So the first time I saw any of the images was when Yamaha posted them online on the release date of the 2011 machines. This side lit shot of Nytro XTX as the sun was setting is one of my favorites.

Jared Sessions powder turn

]]>Snowmobile photography is so tough, you either get the snow or the weather but rarely both blue skies and powder on the same day. On this ride with Boondocker we had the snow but the weather was very cloudy and visibility wasn't good. It was a bummer because there were a bunch of great machines and first class riders there. Since the conditions were bad I didn't shoot very much. This shot of Jared Sessions carving up the powder is one of the best from the day at least his bright sled and gear bring some color to this over wise monochrome image.

]]>This ride in Alpine was one of those epic days. There was about three feet of fresh powder and bright blue skies. To make things even better we were the only ones in a series of huge bowls.
Jackson Hole local Tim Hoff comes from a skiing background and you can tell that in his riding style. His downhill lines are so smooth and calculated. We shot some jumps and lots of powder turns this day. But it was this shot of Tim carving a fresh line through a large hillside of untouched powder that caught my eye in processing.

]]>The premier Sno Cross series in the World; ISOC held a race in Utah at the new Rio Tinto soccer stadium. I decided to go down and photograph it. I had no idea it would be a complete nightmare to shoot. The main races were held at night in a floodlit stadium. While the light looked great to the naked eye it was way too dark for the camera to pick up. To expose correctly I had to crank the ISO as high as it would go therefore making the images really noisy. On top of that the lights in the stadium color cycled, meaning that they constantly change color. Again this is not visible to the naked eye but on the camera the images would have strange colors, one shot would have a red tint and the next green.
The race action however was fantastic and despite the problems with the camera I still was able to get a few decent shots. This corner shot is of one of the most successful snocross racers of all time; Tucker Hibbert.
